The Good in Tomatoes

Besides tomatoes, what else do you see in this picture?

I know, I know, a brown bag, a wooden table, and the stem…

But, what you can't see is the bundle of goodness that tomatoes have to offer!

Since ancient times, the health benefits of tomatoes have been:

  • Antioxidants: tomatoes contain a large amount of lycopene, which is a carotenoid and an antioxidant that is highly effective in scavenging cancer-causing free radicals. Vit C is a natural antioxidant that prevents free radicals from damaging the body’s systems.

  • Vitamins: contain an impressive amount of vitamins A, C, K, B, folate, and thiamine.

  • Minerals: potassium, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, and copper.

  • High water content, dietary fiber, and protein.

  • It protects the Heart

  • Improves Vision

  • Aids in Digestion

  • Lowers Hypertension

  • Manages Diabetes

  • Tomatoes aid in maintaining healthy teeth, bones, hair, and skin.

  • Prevent Gallstones

Please note: Tomatoes generally do not pose major side effects to anyone. However, there are certain proteins in tomatoes that are similar to pollen. This means that people with pollen allergies are more prone to suffering from an allergic reaction after eating tomatoes. The symptoms may include itching, edema, or a scratchy throat.

And always consult with your doctor before making any dietary changes.
